Galerie nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder organized an exhibition dedicated to the Austrian writer Friederike Mayröcker, who died in 2021, which presented the drawings of the renowned author.
The show focusing on the poetic and very personal drawings was curated in 2020 by Hans Ulrich Obrist, who was a friend of Mayröcker’s and who planned the exhibition in close collaboration with the artist. Mayröcker and the gallery shared a connection that lasted for many decades—her first reading took place in 1964, and many more events followed. This publication documents the exhibition and features Mayröcker’s important drawings, which take up a unique position within the writer’s work.
