In contrast to the long period of declining interest in sculpture, young artists such as Michał Budny have again taken up the medium and produced some very spectacular artworks. Budny (b. 1976 in Leszno, PL) can be ordered among a generation of European artists who are exploring the classical avantgarde’s achievements and their engagement with form early in the twentieth century. He uses ordinary materials such as cardboard or paper for his artworks, translating the stringent artistic language of constructivism into carefree and playful contemporary art. Therefore, the beginning of this century is marked by a renewal of the search for new paths in modern art.
